I saw a thing saying that it’s inappropriate for Canadians to compare Stephen Harper to Donald Trump and it’s like well yeah because Donald Trump is offensive and a horrible person but his presidential candidacy is largely a joke, whereas Stephen Harper has been in office as PM for ten fucking years, during which time he has waged outright war on women, Native people, immigrants, and the environment, and people outside of Canada tend to laugh it off or ignore it because Canada’s like that place where healthcare is free right so how bad could their problems possibly be?????? but then their point was like, that Trump is worse than Harper, and it’s like, oh
“well yeah because Donald Trump is offensive and a horrible person but his presidential candidacy is largely a joke”
Hey guys, remember when it was still a joke? Me too. *sobs*

Noam Chomsky on Anarchism, Communism and Revolutions“As global capitalism, with neoliberalism being a necessary accompaniment, has covered now the entire globe, it is extremely useful to revisit some of the great radical traditions of the 19th and 20th centuries – namely, anarchism and communism. What do they stand for?”

"Advice to young activists today: Stop trying to understand the 1960s and build a movement around something that you did not live through or understand, or a movement like the Black Panther Party that went through many changes of policy and program during its 16 year existence. Show respect to movements and activists of the past, understand what they went through, even work with them where that is helpful, but do not make the mistake of building your movement today around anything other than the material conditions and forms of oppression that exist now. Do not be afraid to think in an original sense about police terror, mass imprisonment, homelessness, mass unemployment and poverty, and so many forms of oppression that are worse now, or that did not even exist as a mass problem in the 1960s. This is a different time, so you have to think, resist and organize in this time."– Lorenzo Kom’boa Ervin (via sinidentidades)
